BA (Hons) Animation 

The BA (Hons) Animation course at the University of Portsmouth provides a hands-on approach to both traditional and digital animation, enabling students to learn through doing, right from their first day. With a core focus on exploring the creative and technical aspects of animation, the course helps students to develop and display their artistic abilities while employing the latest industry-standard animation techniques.Course Content: The content of this course aims to give students a fundamental understanding and subsequently an expertise in animation. Topics covered include traditional animation, CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery), character design and performance, visual storytelling, sound design, and cinematic structures.Key Modules: Major modules in the curriculum include Animated Thinking, Animation Practice, Visual Storytelling, Animated Performance, and Character Animation. Additionally, students are given an opportunity to produce an ‘Animation Practice’ film in the final year, showcasing their overall skills and learnings.Future Careers: The BA (Hons) Animation course prepares students for a variety of career paths in the animation industry. Graduates from this course can go on to work in fields such as TV, film, computer games, advertising, music videos, or medical imaging.
