MSc Actuarial Science

The Actuarial Science MSc at Queen's University Belfast is a one-year, full-time program. This course offers prospective students in-depth knowledge in the theories, methods, and mechanics used in managing financial markets. It provides an understanding of the management of risk from an actuarial perspective, offering excellent career perspectives. Course Content: This comprehensive program is made up of two semesters of compulsory and optional taught modules, followed by a three month research project completed over the summer. The course aims to give a well-rounded understanding of actuarial science and it includes the following areas – Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Accounting, Regulation, Risk Management, Business, and Related Areas.Key Modules: The key modules within this course include Risk Theory, Financial Mathematics, Life Contingencies, Time Series and Forecasting, Financial Economics, Econometrics for Finance, and Financial Reporting and Analysis.Accreditations: Queen's Management School is a CFA Institute Affiliate and the course is accredited under the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. Some modules of this course are also recognised by The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries for the purpose of exemption from some of their early examinations.Future Careers: Graduates of this course have gone on to become actuaries, consultants, analysts, risk managers, financial advisers, and policy advisors.
