BMus Music

The Music BMus course at Queen's University Belfast offers a unique blend of practical and theoretical study in music. This course allows students to develop their own individual pathways through a wide range of practical and academic music study. This includes performance, composition, musicology, sonic arts, and popular music.Course Content: The Music BMus course is structured around five strands: Performance, Composition, Historical Musicology, Music and Digital Technologies, and Popular Music Studies. These strands weave through all years of the degree, allowing students to make connections between different aspects of the study. The modules are structured to help students develop a broad and diverse set of skills, including individual and ensemble performance, composition in a variety of styles, and understanding and analysis of music from different historical periods and cultures. Key Modules: The major ones include Intro to Practical Study, Intro to Musicologies, Popular Music, Sonic Arts Techniques, Essentials of Notation, Aesthetics and Criticism of Music, and Music in the Community. Future Careers: Graduates from this course can look forward to career possibilities such as musician, composer, music educator, music therapist, music journalist, or marketing and promotions in the music industry.
