The Spanish BA program at Queen's University Belfast is designed for students who are passionate about the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. The course allows students to engage with a broad spectrum of Spanish language, literature, and cultural studies at an advanced level. Students are encouraged to develop their language skills while gaining an understanding of the multifaceted societies and histories of the Spanish-speaking world.Course Content: The Spanish BA program offers a unique blend of language learning and cultural studies. All students follow core modules that develop their linguistic proficiency and their knowledge of Spanish and Latin American history, society and culture. As their studies progress, students can choose more specialized modules that cater to their interests, from film and literature to politics and linguistic theory. A highlight of the degree is an integral year that students spend studying or working in a Spanish-speaking country, enhancing their linguistic skills and intercultural awareness.Key Modules: Some of the core modules include Spanish Language 1 & 2, Introduction to Spanish and Latin American Culture, and Studying Film. Optional modules can vary from year to year, but may include subjects such as Hispanic Cinemas, Politics of Modern Latin America, or Contemporary Spanish Women’s Writing. Future Careers: Graduates of this program often go on to have successful careers in various sectors including translation, interpretation, teaching, public relations, international business and international relations, among others.
