The Film Studies & Production BA (W600) is a course offered by Queen’s University Belfast. This course provides a unique combination of theoretical and practical approaches in teaching film production techniques, film theories, and introduces students to various aspects of world cinema. Course Content: During this three years full-time course, students will learn to understand film as a medium of communication and an art form. Students would explore the rich diversity of European and World cinema, learn about Hollywood phenomenon and how film works as an industry. Apart from theory, they will gain skills of short film-making, screenwriting, directing, producing and editing. Key Modules: The first year courses include Introduction to Film Studies, Modern Europe 1789-1917, and Understanding Politics. During the second year, students will have a chance to delve deeper into European Cinema, History of Photography, and also get to participate in a Short Film Production module. The final year courses include Film Theory, Subjectivity & Society, and Documentary Filmmaking among others. Future Careers: Graduates of this course may go on to become filmmakers, film critics, cinematography specialists, editors, and scriptwriters.
