The Criminology & Sociology BA (ML93) at Queen's University Belfast offers a wide-ranging exploration of society, social behaviour and our understanding of criminal activity. The 3-year full-time program enables students to develop their analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities, providing a holistic view of not just crime, but also the functions and structure of societies, the human social behaviour, and the wide aspects of human social life.Course Content: The course content is structured across six levels, starting with an understanding of core principles in sociology and criminology in level 1. This progresses to modules related to aspects of criminal justice, crime and social order, and variations in life, death, and opportunity in level 2. By level 3, students delve into complex issues of crime, victims, and policy and can choose elective modules from criminology or sociology. Key Modules: Some important study areas include Key Issues in Sociology, Introduction to Criminology, Foundations of Social Policy, Society and Power, Criminal Justice Systems: A comparative approach, and Criminology in Action.
