MMath Mathematics with a Placement Year

The MMath Mathematics with a Placement Year at the University of Reading is a structured four-year degree course. It provides a comprehensive understanding of mathematics, focusing on both core and specialist areas, and includes a live-work placement experience in the third year of the programme.Course Content: The curriculum starts with fundamental concepts of mathematics to provide solid foundation, eventually progressing to advanced topics with exceptional breadth and diversity. Special emphasis is placed on developing knowledge in domains such as pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics and operational research. The penultimate year of the programme entails a live-work placement that offers practical experience, industry insights and the opportunity to apply learned math skills in a professional environment, Key Modules: Some of the key modules that the course covers are Algebra, Mathematical Analysis, Statistics and Probability, Differential Equations, Vector Calculus, Computational Linear Algebra, and Reading Old English - Elementary. Accreditations: This course accredits students to the level of Chartered Mathematician, a title recognized by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, provided they carry out a substantial final-year project. Future Careers: Graduates from this course go on to careers in finance, engineering, computing, management, government, teaching, and many other sectors.
