MEng Architectural Engineering

The MEng Architectural Engineering course at the University of Reading is specially designed to provide students with a holistic understanding of architecture and engineering. It combines the creativity of architectural design with the rigorous challenge of engineering to help create attractive, sustainable, and future-proof environments. Course Content: The programme offers a broad-based learning experience in Years 1 and 2, covering a range of subjects such as design, structures, materials, and environmental science. As students progress, they are allowed to specialize in areas like sustainable building design, architectural technology, and building services engineering. The final year includes an individual architectural engineering project. Additionally, there's a study abroad option available in Year 3 for those interested in international experience. Key Modules: The programme covers fundamental aspects in the early stages such as Principles of Construction, Structures for Architects, Building Physics, and Design Principles & Place Making. Specialized modules in the latter part of the programme include Design & Innovation, Building Integration, Architectural Engineering Design Project, and Architectural Engineering Individual Project.Accreditations: The MEng Architectural Engineering course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), and the Energy Institute (EI).Future Careers: Graduates from this course go on to a variety of roles, including building services engineer, architecture and built environment consultant, sustainable design engineer, construction project manager, or sustainability consultant.
