Master of Architecture

The Master of Architecture (MArch) course offered by the University of Reading is a full-time, two-year course that aims to provide students with connection between architectural practice and research. This course encourages students to explore architectural design in depth and in its wider cultural, environmental, economic and social contexts.Course Content: The Master of Architecture course consists of four main components- design; history and theory; technology; and professional practice. The course emphasizes design, which spreads across all terms and is closely associated with history and theory, environmental issues, construction and professional practice. The History & Theory and Communications Skills modules develop dissertation topics and writing skills, while the technologies group focuses on structural and environmental design. Professional practical training rounds out the courseware, preparing students for their future careers. Key Modules: The core modules include Architectural Design, History and Theory, Construction and Environmental Design, Communications Skills and Professional Practice.Accreditations: The course is prescribed by the Architects Registration Board, and it holds unconditional validation from the Royal Institute of British Architects.Future Careers: After graduation, students may find opportunities within architecture and the built environment, in design practice as well as in development, construction, and consultancy roles.
