The BSc Nutrition with Foundation is a program offered by the University of Reading. This course includes a foundation year that is designed to prepare students for undergraduate study, especially those who do not have a traditional academic background.Course Content: The course begins with a Foundation year where students study Biology and Chemistry required to study Nutrition at BSc level. In undergraduate years, the content covers food science, public health nutrition, human nutrition, and clinical nutrition. Students also get the opportunity to study consumer behaviour, food security, and examination of the many complex factors that have an impact on health. The course involves practical work which includes data analysis, experimental design and scientific writing.Key Modules: Some of the essential modules include Foundation Biology, Foundation Chemistry, Fundamentals of Nutrition, Food Chain and Health, and Sensory Science of Food and Eating. In the third year, students will have the opportunity to work on their own research project in an area they find particularly interesting.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN), providing direct entry to the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists.Future Careers: Graduates of this course are well equipped to work as a nutritionist in public health, food industry, research, and health promotion.
