The BSc Biological Sciences course, offered by the University of Reading, explores the fundamental principles of biology, including animal and human biology, microbiology and genetics, plants and the environment. Students will gain an understanding of biology at all scales, from genes to ecosystems, along with the methods used to study them.Course Content: The program begins with the core modules to provide all students an understanding of fundamental biological processes, which then enables them to focus on the aspects of biology they find most appealing. Course content includes learning practical laboratory skills, considering the big environmental challenges the world faces, understanding the fundamental principles of genetics, cellular, and systems biology, and more.Key Modules: Students will study mandatory and optional modules throughout the course. Mandatory modules include Cellular Genetics and Evolution and Physiology and Pharmacology. Optional modules included in the curriculum provide learning about topics such as Immunology, Parasitology, Microbiology, and Evolution.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting, in part, the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).Future Careers: Graduates of this program can pursue a wide range of careers. They are largely employed in the scientific sector within six months of graduation.
