BA Philosophy and Classical Studies

The BA Philosophy and Classical Studies at the University of Reading is a unique course that combines the study of Philosophy with Classical studies. It gives students a deep understanding of the philosophical ideas of Plato and Aristotle as well as the study of ancient Greece and Rome. This full-time undergraduate course usually strips over three years.Course Content: This course provides the opportunity to explore the prominent works of Plato and Aristotle, the Presocratics and Sceptics, Epicureans and Stoics, as well as philosophy’s roots in the classical world and beyond. It covers the development of ancient Greek and Latin language, literature, culture, history and philosophy, in harmony with the exploration of key philosophical areas like Metaphysics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind, Ethics, and Political Philosophy.Key Modules: Some of the key modules included in this course are Doing Philosophy, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind, Ethics, Political Philosophy, Origins of Philosophy, Language Fieldwork, History Fieldwork, Understanding Ancient Egypt, and Museum Studies.Future Careers: The combination of skills gained through this course offers broad marketability for any future careers.
