The BA Modern Languages and English Literature at the University of Reading is a full-time program that allows students to immerse themselves in the cultures, histories, arts and societies of diverse regions around the world while honing their language skills. Students can choose to study two modern languages from French, German, Italian and/or Spanish, in addition to studying English Literature.Course Content: The course offers a broad overview of literature and cultures, starting with the basics and progressively deepening the understanding of the selected modern languages and diverse forms of written expression. It includes study of famous works and authors to understand different literary styles and the history, culture and society of the time. Students get a chance to spend one year abroad to better understand the culture and practice their language skills.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include Core Language, Introduction to European Cinema, Twentieth-Century European History, Introduction to Comparative Literature, Research and Study Skills in Modern Languages, and Understanding Culture.
