BA Film and Theatre

The BA Film and Theatre course at the University of Reading is structured in a way that carefully combines the study of contemporary and classic films and plays with periods of practical, hands-on experience. It is a full-time degree course spanning three years. The course provides a golden opportunity for students to analyze, implement, and cultivate practical skills that would enable them to excel in a wide range of careers within the film and theatre industry.Course Content: The course contains a mix of theory and practice-based modules. Students can study everything from Greek Tragedy to contemporary American theatre and World Cinema to Film Aesthetics. In the first year, students cover core modules which establish a strong base for film and theatre studies. The second and third years allows students to choose from a range of modules to specialize their studies. Key Modules: The course includes key modules such as Practising Film and Theatre, Introduction to Film Studies, Beginning Theatre Studies, Film Production, Theatre Production, Approaches to British Society: Britain on Screen, Contemporary Hollywood Cinema, and Contemporary Black British Theatre.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the National Council for the Drama Training (NCDT). Future Careers: The BA Film and Theatre course prepares students for a variety of careers.
