BA English Literature with Foundation

The BA English Literature with Foundation course at The University of Reading is an innovative Gateway to Higher Education programme designed for students who may not have followed the traditional academic route at the school level but aspire to do a degree in English Literature. The course focuses on nurturing a deep appreciation for literature and its contexts, fostering analytical abilities, critical thinking, and enhancing students' written and oral communication skills.Course Content: The foundation year involves a mix of literature, language, and arts modules designed to equip students with the necessary academic skills required for the degree programme. After successful completion of the foundation year, students will progress to study English Literature for three years. The main content areas are: modern poetry and fiction, literature from the medieval period to the present, and American literature. Also, students will be able to pick from a large array of modules as per their interests.
