BA English Literature with Creative Writing

The BA English Literature with Creative Writing course at the University of Reading exposes students to the richness of English literature and empowers them with creative writing skills to become compelling story tellers. Over the span of three years, students will study various forms of literature whilst developing their own writing style.Course Content: Students in this program will split their time between studying existing English literature and learning to write creatively. Their exploration of English literature may include a broad span of history, from the Middle Ages to contemporary works. Creative Writing modules will challenge students to write in different genres and use language imaginatively to tell their own stories.Key Modules: Some of the key modules in this course consist of 'Poetry in English', 'Modern American Literature', 'Twentieth Century Irish Literature', 'Contemporary World Theatre', 'Creative Writing Practice', and an optional module 'Interdisciplinary Studies'.Future Careers: This course prepares students for various career paths. Alumni have found work in fields such as journalism, publishing, marketing, administration, teaching and community arts.
