The Music: Songwriting/Sound Production/Industries MA program at the University of the West of Scotland offers a distinctive and robust combination of practice, theory and professionalism. This course provides students with opportunities to develop key skills across three areas, namely songwriting, sound production and music industries, enabling them to highly specialize or adopt a more interdisciplinary approach.Course Content: The program comprises innovative modules that cover a variety of topics including song writing and performing, sound production, music theories, entrepreneurship, live projects, research methods, and music industry institutions. Key Modules: Core modules include Songwriting 1, Sound Production 1, and Music Industries 1 leading to a triple specialization in all three practice in the first stage. For the second stage, Music Project, Residencies and Portfolio Branding Enhancements modules are provided. The final stage comprises of a Music Project module, introducing students with long-form assessment and project-based methods. Future Careers: The course prepares students for a range of careers within the music industry including songwriters, sound producers, music industry managers, and entrepreneurs, among other roles.
