The Postgraduate course in Social Work at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is a full-time course offered over a period of two years. The course is designed to enable students to qualify as a social worker, while gaining a postgraduate qualification. It covers a range of social work theories and methods and seeks to encourage an innovative and critical approach to the practice of social work. Course Content: The course is divided into three modules in year one and a single, overarching module in year two. The modules cover a wide range of topics, such as human growth and behaviour, social work roles and tasks, law for social work and social work practice. Key Modules: The key modules include Human Growth and Behaviour, Law for Social Work, Theories and Methods of Social Work Practice, Skills for Social Work Practice, Social Work roles and tasks and Practice Learning. The final year module; 'Integrating Theory and Practice for Social Work', incorporates continual professional development and reflective practice to develop an integrated understanding of social work. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
