The BSc (Hons) Physics with Education is a unique undergraduate course offered by the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). This course innovatively combines the study of physics with practice-based study of teaching and learning. It is aimed at students who may be interested in a career in physics-related industry or interested in teaching at secondary school level.Course Content: The course offers a solid foundation in the principles and practices of physics alongside a study of education which includes school placements. Year 1 covers an introduction to Physics and the ability to analyse and reflect on learning within a professional teacher education context. In Year 2, students will be introduced to the theories of learning and teaching as well as Quantum Physics and Atomic Structures. The 3rd year includes a school placement, alongside modules on Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics and Elementary Particles.
