BAcc (Hons) Accounting

The Accounting Undergraduate Course at the University of the West of Scotland aims to develop students' understanding of contemporary accounting in a broader business context. The course comes with an optional internship that provides students the chance for a work placement through the Internship module, offering real-world experience that can enhance employability.Course Content: The course incorporates both theory and practical aspects of accounting and gives students a comprehensive understanding of accounting in a modern-day context. The course also integrates the use of SAGE accounting software and other relevant systems like XERO, giving students practical exposure to commonly used tools in the accounting profession.Key Modules: The key modules covered in the course are Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Auditing, Corporate Governance and Ethics, and Strategic Decision Making. These modules aim to enhance students' competency and readiness for the professional world.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, ICAEW and CIPFA. Students can also enjoy exemptions from some exams of these professional bodies after completing relevant modules.Future Careers: Upon completion of the course, students can pursue careers as accountants, financial advisors, auditors, or many other roles in the financial services industry.
