The MPhys in Theoretical Physics with a Year in Industry course offered by the University of York allows students to marry theoretical physics theories with their practical application in industry. The course extends over a period of four years, with the third year being spent in the industry. Course Content: The course explores core topics of theoretical physics including quantum mechanics, condensed matter physics, particle physics and relativity in in-depth detail. There is also a special emphasis on developing skills such as problem solving, mathematical modelling, and simulation which are significant in the industrial setting. The Year in Industry further allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges, thereby enhancing their practical skill set.Key Modules: Key modules include Quantum Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Electromagnetic Theory, Particle Physics and Relativity, Nuclear Physics, Astrophysics, Applied and Computational Mathematics.Future Careers: The program prepares students for a variety of careers in research and industry, including roles as Mathematicians, Physicists and Engineer Scientists. Many graduates also go on to do further research in universities and research institutions. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
