MEng (Hons) Engineering

The MEng in Engineering offered at the University of York is a four-year full-time study course aimed at aspiring engineers who wish to develop problem-solving skills while obtaining a comprehensive understanding of engineering sciences. This course offers a collaborative and hands-on learning approach, with the support of industry leaders to ensure students are equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and techniques.Course Content: The first two years provide a broad understanding of all major engineering disciplines. In the third and fourth years, students can tailor their degree to their interests and career aspirations by choosing from a variety of specialised modules and a substantial project in one of the six engineering disciplines: Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer Systems, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering.Key Modules: Some of the core modules offered throughout the course include: Thermofluids and Engines; Solid Mechanics; Electronic Circuits; Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics; Mathematics and Signals; Materials and Manufacturing; and Professional Skills in Engineering. The latter stages offer modules such as: Engineering Management and Law; Energy Systems and Renewable Technologies; Aerospace; and Biomedical Engineering. Accreditations: The MEng in Engineering, University of York is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). Accreditation ensures that the degree meets the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC), set by the Engineering Council UK. Future Careers: This course prepares graduates for a wide range of professional engineering roles in industries such as biomedical, aerospace, electronics, or mechanical sectors, as well as sectors such as management consulting, finance, or IT, among others.
