The MChem in Chemistry with Green Principles at the University of York is a four-year undergraduate course. This course places traditional Chemistry within the context of a more sustainable, green approach. It helps students to acquire advanced knowledge in chemistry and integrate it with green and sustainable practices. Course Content: The course content has been designed to equip students with a knowledge of the classical principles of Chemistry, such as Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry, integrated with modern green principles. The first year of study introduces students to the fundamentals of Chemistry while the second and third years offer core modules in all areas of Chemistry. The final year allows students to work with a team of researchers on a project related to Green Chemistry. Key Modules: Key modules include Green Chemistry and Sustainable Industrial Technology, Nanochemistry and Extended Materials, Advanced Organic Reactions and Mechanisms, Chemistry of Biological Systems, and others. One unique aspect of this course is the inclusion of an industry-linked green chemical technology module in the third year.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, providing a pathway to professional Chartered Chemist (CChem) status. Future Careers: Graduates from this course are well-equipped for careers in a wide range of sectors, including chemical, pharmaceutical, business, and environmental sectors. Many also choose to pursue further study in research degrees or teacher training. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
