MA Social Work

The MA Social Work is a full-time, two-year, postgraduate degree offered by the University of York. This intensive course equips students with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to practice as social workers in a variety of settings. A strong emphasis is placed on human rights and social justice, as well as the needs of the most vulnerable in society.Course Content: MA Social Work programme at the University of York adopts a strong experiential learning approach and features a combination of classroom-based and practice-based learning. The first year includes a practice placement and the second year concludes with a 100-day placement in a different type of social work setting. Reflective learning is embedded throughout the course to help students consolidate their skills and knowledge.Key Modules: Some of the critical modules that are part of the course include 'Social Work Practice', 'Law for Social Work', 'Social Work Theory and Methods', 'Social Policy and Social Problems', and 'Children and Families Social Work'.
