The MA Historical Archaeology is a postgraduate taught course offered by the University of York, ideal for those with an interest in the material remains of the past. This course provides a comprehensive theoretical and practical training in archaeology and embraces all periods from the earliest human origins to the production of historical archaeology.Course Content: Over two terms, the course offers two days of teaching per week which consists of lectures, seminars, practical sessions, and workshops. In the third term, each student has the opportunity to pursue their independent research project, typically 20,000 words in length. Key Modules: The course comprises a variety of modules including: Theory and interpretation in historical archaeology, Research Training, Historical Arcaeology of England, and Historical Arcaeology in Practice. Students can also choose from optional modules like Roman Britain; The Viking World; Arcaeology of Medieval Britain; Palaeopathology; and Landscape Archaeology.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA), the leading professional body representing archaeologists working in the UK and overseas.Future Careers: As the course develops a wide range of transferable skills, the opportunities for postgraduate employment are broad.
