The MA in Film and Television Production with Editing at the University of York is designed to give students professional level skills, insight and experience in the field of film and television editing. This is a practical, grounded in the realities of the cutting room and firmly embedded in the professional techniques and craft of editing itself. Students will practice and critique the art, craft and industry of the subject, whilst developing their editing skills across a portfolio of traditional and emerging media platforms.Course Content: Throughout the course, students will craft story-telling techniques, becoming familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer, understanding production workflows and asset management, and exploring creative post-production sound design. They will develop advanced editing techniques such as color correction, visual effects, and motion graphics, ultimately planning and executing a complex, high-level project in an area of film, television and music video production.Key Modules: Some of the key modules in this course include Studio Production Skills, the Craft of the Cutter, Sound Design Workshop, Applied Production Skills, Factual & Entertainment Programme Making and the Final Project.Accreditations: Whilst the course does not stipulate any specific accrediting bodies, it is mentioned that this course is taught by staff with first-hand experience in broadcast television and film production.Future Careers: Graduates of this course gain skills in editing that are transferrable across all digital media.
