The MA in Applied Human Rights at the University of York is a one-year full-time course that provides in-depth insight into the application of human rights law in the real world. This course is designed for those who are passionate about social justice and human rights, specifically non-governmental organizers, campaigners, and UK-based and international civil servants and provides a critical understanding of the impact of international human rights law at the grassroots level. Course Content: The MA Applied Human Rights combines high-level, theory-based modules with expert insights and practical sessions. The course content includes a blend of compulsory and optional modules, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. The program offers critical engagement with human rights practice, including an intensive summer term fieldwork placement with an NGO or public body dealing with human rights.Key Modules: Every student is initiated with the Understanding and Securing Human Rights and Applying Human Rights (which includes the intensive fieldwork placement) modules.
