BSc (Hons) Psychology

The BSc Psychology program at the University of York aims to advance understanding of the mind, brain, and behavior. In addition, this course provides the necessary training for students seeking a career in psychology.Course Content: The BSc Psychology course structure builds from foundational knowledge to advanced content in specializations. The first year is dedicated to foundational subjects like Research Statistics, Interpersonal and Group Processes, and Developmental Psychology. During the second and third years, students can select from a variety of specialist modules while continuing to study core subjects. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project on a topic of their choice. Key Modules: Key modules include Research Design and Analysis, Psychological Research Skills, Clinical and Health Psychology, Cognitive Neuropsychology, and Educational and Child Psychology.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). This accreditation is necessary for students who wish to pursue further professional training to become a psychologist.Future Careers: Upon completion of this course, students may progress into careers across a range of sectors including health, education, business, and government.
