The BSc Physics (Year Abroad) course offered by the University of York is a four-year undergraduate degree in Physics. The course extends the BSc Physics degree with an additional year in a foreign university, offering students the opportunity to experience Physics from a global perspective.Course Content: This course combines the core foundation of Physics with practical laboratory work, numerical problem solving, and the development of scientific perspective. In the first year, students will study Foundations of Physics and Mathematics for Physics and Physical Sciences. Moving to the second year, Quantum Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Thermodynamics are some of the main subjects. The third year will be spent abroad at one of their partner institutions. The fourth and final year deepens the understanding of subjects like Quantum Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and explores areas such as Relativity, Quantum Field Theory etc. Key Modules: Some key modules in this course include Foundations of Physics, Mathematics for Physics and Physical Sciences, Quantum Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Thermodynamics in the first two years. Quantum Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Relativity, and Quantum Field Theory are the main focus of the final year.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institute of Physics. Future Careers: The course prepares students for a wide range of career options, including roles in scientific research, technology, finance sector, teaching, and more. Many students also choose to further their studies with a postgraduate degree. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
