The BSc Environmental Science with Placement is a comprehensive course offered by the University of York. It provides students with an in-depth understanding of the Earth's most challenging environmental problems. The course uniquely combines the physical and biological sciences with an understanding of the social, legal and political issues surrounding environmental science.Course Content: The course is a four-year degree including a placement in year 3, which can either be in the UK or abroad. The first year provides a foundation in the broad discipline of environmental science, introducing concepts of systems, sustainability, environmental change and governance, and pollution. This broad understanding is built upon in Years 2 and 4, allowing you to tailor your degree to your interests and career aspirations. Key Modules: Key modules include atmospheric science, environmental geoscience, biodiversity conservation, environmental governance & policy, and environmental remote sensing. Optional modules include energy and the environment, agricultural systems, rivers: process & management, and conservation in social-ecological systems. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) and the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). Future Careers: The course prepares students for a wide range of careers - from environmental consultancy and wildlife conservation to government advisory roles.
