The BA in Philosophy, Languages and Cultures (German) at the University of York combines the study of philosophy with an in-depth study of German language, literature and culture. This course is a three years full-time programme that also includes a year abroad to explore the language and culture in real life scenarios. Course Content: The course kicks off with modules in philosophy, exploring topics like reason and argument, ethics and introduction to metaphysics and theory of knowledge. In parallel, students will initially focus on developing their German language skills and then delve into the culture and literature of the German-speaking world. During the second and third year, students can choose from a wide range of optional modules to further broaden their knowledge and understanding. Year abroad is usually in the third year, where the students will be studying or working in a German-speaking country.
