BA (Hons) Linguistics with Languages and Cultures (Spanish)

The BA Linguistics and Spanish course at the University of York provides an in-depth knowledge of linguistics and allows students to achieve a high degree of proficiency in Spanish. This is a flexible degree where students gain a rich understanding of the way languages work, are used and develop. This combined degree gives students the chance to explore the structure of language and its use in society, whilst honing their written and spoken Spanish skills.Course Content: The course is divided into three years, with the third year being spent abroad. During the first two years, the students learn foundational topics in linguistics and Spanish. The final year gives students a chance to specialize in areas of their interest by choosing from a wide range of options available. Key Modules: The course covers a broad range of subjects including, Sounds of Language, Meaning and Truth, Language and Society, Varieties of Spanish, Advanced Spanish Language Skills, and numerous other modules. Future Careers: Graduates from this course have pursued careers in various sectors such as language teaching, consultancy, translation and interpretation, copy-editing, broadcasting, game design, data science and many more.
