MSc Translation and Technology (Audiovisual)

The Translation and Technology Audiovisual MSc at UCL is a course that offers students the opportunity to combine their interests in audiovisual and technology with professional-level translation skills. This course pays attention to the fast-growing industry of audiovisual translation and subtitle production for new minority languages and audiences in the digital sphere.Course Content: The course consists of two compulsory modules, five optional modules, and a research project/dissertation that students will complete over the summer. The topics for these modules and projects vary, but all aim to provide a deeper understanding of the theories, principles, and practices of audiovisual translation. Key Modules: The key modules of this course include compulsory modules such as Foundations of Translation and Interpreting, Introduction to Audiovisual Translation, and a Dissertation. Optional modules may include Specialised Translation, Subtitling, Film Localisation and much more.Accreditations: The course is currently seeking accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL).Future Careers: Graduates from this course will have access to a wide variety of jobs in the translation industry, including roles as professional translators, subtitlers, localisers, project managers, and testing coordinators for video games.
