The Social Cognition: Research and Applications MSc course at UCL is designed to imbue students with a deep understanding of the mental mechanisms forming perceptions and attitudes towards the social world. It evolves from a blend of traditional cognitive science and social psychology that investigates how sectioned off aspects of cognition (like memory, attention, and emotion) influence human social interactions.Course Content: The degree course spans over one year (full-time) or two to five years (part-time/flexible). It disseminates knowledge about empirical research methods, mechanisms that drive interpersonal encounters, and existing theories about social interactions. Over the academic year, students are expected to attend face-to-face lectures, practical classes, independent study, and complete a dissertation.Key Modules: The degree course encompasses a variety of modules including Introduction to Statistics for Psychology using R (15 credits), Major Project (60 credits), Practical Training in Psychological Science (15 credits), Research Project (30 credits), Social Cognition: Science and Application (15 credits), Social Cognitive Neuroscience (15 credits), and more.
