The Reproductive Genetics and Fetal Medicine MSc is offered by University College London (UCL). The course takes a multidisciplinary approach with a blend of taught and research components that provide students with an advanced understanding and practical lab experience of the genetic sciences, including molecular and cell biology, genetics of reproduction, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), fetal therapy, clinical genetics and genetic counselling.Course Content: The core modules of the course include Essentials of Medical Genetics, Genetics of Reproduction, Fetal Medicine, Clinical Genetics, Research Laboratory Skills, Genetic Counselling, Chopin Course, and Dissertation Project. To ensure specialist learning, electives can be chosen from Chromosomal Genetics, Basic Genetics, Dysmorphology, and Neurogenetics.Key Modules: The chief learning segments include Genetics of Reproduction, whereby students become conversant with genetic and epigenetic causes of infertility. The Fetal Medicine module aids students in understanding the principles of screening and treatment techniques used in fetal medicine, in addition to studying maternal-fetal medicine topics. The Reproductive Genetics and Fetal Medicine MSc also includes an individual research project designed to give students a hands-on training in research techniques.Accreditations: The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has approved this MSc course for its Advanced Training Skills Module in genetics.Future Careers: On completing this MSc course, students can find opportunities as scientists, counsellors, or clinicians in the field of fetal medicine and reproductive genetics. They may also get involved in novel research areas like genetics, reproductive medicine, and fetal medicine. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
