MSc Orthoptics (pre-registration)

The Orthoptics Pre-registration MSc course offered by UCL (University College London) provides students with the scientific understanding and practical experience required to diagnose and manage a range of eye and vision conditions. This pioneering course is credited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), involving placements at various healthcare facilities throughout the two years of study. Course Content: The course weaves theory and practical-based learning through means inclusive of lectures, clinical practice, theoretical study, and self-directed learning. Guided by UCL's three key research departments, students will learn core skills in orthoptics and vision science.Key Modules: The course has core modules, compulsory and optional, spread across three years. Core modules include Professional Practice in Eye Care, Visual Neuroscience, Clinical Orthoptics, and Research skills. Compulsory modules are Special Study Module and Masters Level Research Project. There are no optional modules available.Accreditations: The Orthoptics Pre-registration MSc is fully approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by the British and Irish Orthoptic Society (BIOS).Future Careers: This course is designed to prepare students for a career in Orthoptics, a profession allied to health. Graduates will be eligible to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as Orthoptists.
