MSc Environmental Anthropology

The Environmental Anthropology MSc course provided by University College London (UCL) is a Master’s degree program intended for students who wish to better understand and contribute to the shaping of emerging narratives and practices around the environment. The course was designed to offer students hands-on experience in international environmental research and project management.Course Content: This course offers a wide spectrum of knowledge regarding the intertwining relationship between humans and the environment. Components of the course include: contemporary ecological and environmental debates, the politics of environmental knowledge, environmental justice and unequal exchange, the marketing and consumption of nature, international development, as well as the historical ecology and future survival and adaptability of different human species.Key Modules: The degree is split into 5 key modules: The Foundations of Environmental Anthropology that explores core theoretical debates in contemporary environment anthropology, Debating Biodiversity which expands on nature conservation and its implications on societies, Strategic Conservation Management that targets on conservation planning and principles, and qualifying chapters on Biological Recording Skills as well as Research Methods and Resources.Future Careers: Graduates of the Environmental Anthropology MSc course often go on to work in a multitude of sectors. These include environmental consultation, research, and policy work.
