The Ecology and Urban Engineering MSc at University College London (UCL) is aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the interactions between urban development, climate change, biodiversity and the role of civil engineering in urban ecological design and management. The course covers a wide range of areas including ecological design, management and assessment, building design and materials, energy systems and supplies, air quality, water resources management, and waste technologies.Course Content: Students will study compulsory modules covering the principles of environmental engineering, environmental modelling, managing and communicating environmental risk, and research project design. In addition to these, students will be provided with a wide selection of optional modules such as Urban Flooding and Drainage, Transport and Sustainable Development, and others. Completion of a substantial research project is also a key component of the course. Key Modules: The course has a variety of key modules which includes Principles of Environmental Engineering, Building Heat and Mass Transfer, and Solar Energy. Additionally, there are optional modules like Flood Hazard Modelling, Advanced Civil Engineering Materials, and Decision Trees and Random Forests. Future Careers: Graduates are equipped to pursue careers in environmental design, ecological design, construction design and planning, freshwater management, and related sectors. The interdisciplinary nature of this course also prepares graduates for higher studies and research or teaching roles in the field of environmental engineering. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page here.
