The Astrophysics MSc at UCL is designed to prepare students for professional roles in the astrophysics sector and related disciplines. The course enables students to develop their knowledge and understanding of a broad spectrum of astrophysics, pushing the boundaries of theory and application. Students will gain a strong foundation in fundamental physical sciences, mathematics, and computational science.Course Content: Students will study six modules over the first two terms followed by a four-month research project in the third term. The modules cover varied subjects including The Physics of Stars, Stellar Physics, High-Energy Astrophysics, Observational Astrophysics and Interstellar Medium, and Planetary Atmospheres. The course also includes four compulsory components: Research Skills, Techniques & Methods for Astrophysicists, Observational Astrophysics, and Research Project.Key Modules: The Core modules include Research Skills: Transferable Skills, Research Project and Seminar, Techniques and Methods for Astrophysicists, Observational Astrophysics. The Optional modules include the Physics of Stars, Stellar Astrophysics and Cosmology, Plasma Physics, Planetary Atmospheres, Particles, Space and Atmospheric Physics, High-Energy Astrophysics, Interstellar Medium, Active Galactic Nuclei.Accreditations: The Astrophysics MSc is accredited by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM).Future Careers: Graduates of this course will have a sound understanding of the principles and methods of astrophysics which are highly sought after by employers in astrophysics, space industries, finance, education, and more.
