The Urban Sustainability and Resilience MRes at UCL is a unique program specifically tailored to bridge the gap between developing academic research into practical, innovative applications within the urban environment. This course is best suited for those aspiring to influence urban sustainability and resilience policies and strategies, through the development and implementation of innovative practices and solutions.Course Content: The program is interdisciplinary with a focus on developing an understanding of how to manage complex urban systems. It fosters creativity and innovation and allows students to explore their individual research interests within a structure of academic and professional guidance. The course includes two key elements: taught modules (15 credits each), which provide a foundation of knowledge and a research component, which consists of a Research Proposal module (30 credits) and a research project (120 credits). Key Modules: Some of the key modules include: Urban Sustainability and Resilience: Pathways, Policy, and Practice; Critical Issues in Urban Sustainability and Resilience; Designing and Evaluating Transformative Urban Sustainability and Resilience Interventions; and Research Proposal.Future Careers: The course produces graduates capable of becoming leaders and entrepreneurs in sectors as diverse as civil engineering, environmental infrastructure, urban design, urban planning, geography, risk and environment, public policy, and housing.
