The Synthetic Biology MRes at University College London (UCL) offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of synthetic biology. The programme aims to equip students with the necessary skills to contribute to the rapidly growing area of synthetic biology, whether in industry, academia, or regulatory affairs. Course Content: The programme consists of two main components – a research project that spans the academic year and a taught component. The taught component includes a wide variety of multidisciplinary topics such as quantitative skills for synthetic biology, science communication skills, biotechnological and synthetic biology patents, and ethics, to name a few. Students are also exposed to a series of synthetic biology seminars. Key Modules: Notable modules in this programme include Synthetic Biology Seminars, Synthetic Biology (bioscience pathway), Synthetic Biology (physical sciences pathway), Biotechnological and Synthetic Biology Patents, and Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects of Synthetic Biology. In-depth modules such as Bioinformatics and Systems Modelling are also part of the course.
