The Space Syntax: Architecture and Cities MRes at UCL is a course dedicated to understanding the social, economic, and environmental forces that shape the physicality of cities. The course provides a unique opportunity for architectural, urban, planning, and social researchers to study the relationship between the design of the built environment and societal outcomes. Course Content: This programme takes a unique approach to the study of architecture and cities, focusing on human behaviour patterns in different spatial settings. Students will learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, and practical workshops. The course offers a strong theoretical background along with practical experience in the application of space syntax methodologies.Key Modules: The course comprises of four modules, each structured around a different aspect of space syntax theory and application. Modules include 'Foundations of Space Syntax: Theoretical Background', 'Foundations of Space Syntax: Methodological Background', 'Research into Practice', and 'Space Syntax Application'.
