The Inter-disciplinary Urban Design MRes course at UCL is centred around gaining a deep understanding of urban design from a multitude of perspectives. The course explores design as a response to processes of rapid urbanisation and the opportunities and challenges that these present for the future of our cities.Course Content: This course offers grounding in the theory and practice of urban design by exploring urban paradigms, ecological resilience, public and private spaces, and urban inequality. It also focuses on the role of design within the framework of urban development. Students will engage with scenarios and speculative design methods to generate comprehensive design proposals, which they will critically evaluate. The programme includes group workshops, seminars, lectures, tutorials and site visits.
