The Special and Inclusive Education MA course at University College London's Institute of Education is designed to improve students' understanding of inclusion and disability, historically and in contemporary social and educational contexts. It provides a deep understanding of the ways in which inclusion and disability are conceptualised and provides a powerful knowledge base to challenge and interrogate current understanding and practice. Course Content: The curriculum is rooted in inclusive education, critical disability studies, international perspectives and research-engaged teaching and focuses on theory, policy, and practice in the Global North and South. It enables participants to explore their own practices and develop knowledge and skills to challenge exclusion and increase inclusion.Key Modules: Key modules include Inclusive Education: Key Themes and Issues, and Understanding Research, with a selection of optional modules covering a variety of relevant topics, including Education and International Development, Research Methods, and inclusive education in different contexts.Accreditations: Upon successful completion of 180 credits, you will be awarded an MA in Special and Inclusive Education. The completion of 60 credits can lead to a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), and 120 credits can lead to a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip).Future Careers: This course is geared towards individuals who aim for leadership roles within educational settings. Graduates are well placed to take on coordination and management responsibilities in special and mainstream schools. Some have gained positions in the voluntary or third sector working in NGOs.
