The Situated Practice MA at UCL (University College London) is a full-time, one-year or part-time, two-year course that critically engages with the social, political, and environmental contexts of contemporary culture. The course utilises the city as its primary resource for learning, interpreting the built environment as a manifestation of cultural processes and a medium for creative intervention.Course Content: The course offers a unique combination of studio-based design and theoretical modules. Students will undertake in-depth, speculative studies of the built environment, bridging art and architectural practices. These studies will lead to the production of co-creative and publicly-oriented works including performances, installations, and events.Key Modules: The course includes three compulsory modules: Situated Practice Design Portfolio, Theories and Histories of Situated Practice, and Situated Practice Research Portfolio. In addition to these modules, students have access to a wide range of optional courses, allowing for a tailored learning experience.Future Careers: With comprehensive and robust learning, coupled with a strong critical and creative approach, graduates are well-prepared for careers in a wide range of sectors including architectural and art practices, cultural institutions, publishing, education, and research.
