The Russian and East European Literature and Culture MA is a full-time or part-time graduate program offered by University College London (UCL). This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the rich cultures of Russia and Eastern Europe across a broad historical and geographic range, through a close study of their literature, media, social practices, and intellectual traditions. Course Content: This program is built on four interrelated elements: language, literature, culture, and politics. Students not only learn about the region's languages but also gain profound knowledge of its history and cultures, literary and critical theories, and political thought. They investigate various issues - historical, thematic, comparative, or theoretical - that span several countries and reach back into empires and epochs. Furthermore, they are trained in the advanced language skills necessary for the close academic reading, analysis, and translation of original texts.Key Modules: Students have the flexibility to tailor the course to their interests. They can choose modules from options that may vary each year and may include: 'Sociocultural Framework to Polish Studies,' 'Contemporary Cultural Studies: Between Post-Communism and Post-Modernism,' 'Late Soviet and Post-Soviet Literature,' 'Central European History,' 'Racism, Migration, Xenophobia in CEE,' among others.
