The Hispanic Studies MA Course at UCL offers an enriching study on the language, culture, and history of the Hispanic world. This postgraduate program is directed at students who want to delve into advanced study, research, and critical analysis in Hispanic Studies. Located in London, this course provides a global perspective of Hispanic Studies and is deeply rooted in interdisciplinary approach.Course Content: The course is broken down into two parts: taught courses and research preparation. The taught courses focus on the skills essential to producing a high-quality dissertation and will be taught through seminars, close reading and analysis of texts, and other classroom activities. The research preparation module helps students develop the skills necessary to carry out independent research in Hispanic Studies. This is assisted with regular meetings with the supervisor and seminars aimed at honing research techniques and methodologies.Key Modules: The core modules of this course are Language, Culture & History: Making of the Hispanic World and Dissertation in Hispanic Studies. The optional modules offered include Spanish American Literature; Don Quixote; Visual Culture in Spain and Latin America; and Spanish Film and Cultural Studies among others.Future Careers: After successfully completing this MA, students have gone onto successful careers in many different sectors including international NGOs, teaching and education, translation and interpretation, public administration, and further research at PhD level.
