The Spanish and History of Art BA is a rich and diverse course offered by UCL, providing a combined honours degree in two cultures. It gives students the opportunity to study the art history and Spanish language in depth, immersing themselves in both Spanish culture and the global history of art. Course Content: The course is based on two main fields, namely, Spanish and History of Art. In the Spanish program, students will be expected to study both the language and the culture of Spain, incorporating literature, film, history and linguistics. On the other hand, the history of art program invites students to engage with the artworks, images and structures which have shaped history, globally. Students equally have the opportunity to spend their third year abroad, fully immersed in Spanish-speaking culture and society.Key Modules: The course offers a variety of modules for students to consider. In the first year, all students take a set of core modules that includes "Objects of Art History", "On Sex and Violence", "Making and Seeing", and "Modern European Language". From the second year onwards, a range of options is available which include "Spanish Film after Franco", "The Troubadours", "Concepts and Methods of Art History", among others.Future Careers: Graduates from the Spanish and History of Art BA can pursue careers in a wide range of sectors. They might be well-suited to roles in fields which require excellent language skills, analytical capabilities, intercultural understanding and clear communication.
