The Serbian, Croatian, and Yiddish BA program offered by University College London (UCL) is an undergraduate degree that enables students to learn and understand the languages, literature, and cultures associated with these languages. The course is delivered within UCL’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), which provides a unique curriculum that is research-led and delivered by internationally recognized staff. Course Content: The degree program is designed around the study of language, culture, history, and politics associated with Serbian, Croatian and Yiddish. Students are given an opportunity to study the three languages from Beginners' level and beyond. Each of these language courses are combined with study of relevant literature and culture. Apart from language, students will also study modules on history, business, politics, and society relating to central, eastern, and south-east Europe, and Russia.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include language modules in either Serbian/Croatian, Yiddish or both. Cultural modules such as ‘Shakespeare and Popular Culture’, ‘Understanding Yugoslavia’, ‘Totalitarianism, Socialism, and Revolutions: Culture and Politics in Central Europe 1900 to present’ and more are also part of the key modules.
