The Scandinavian Studies/Management Studies BA at UCL is a unique programme that combines the those two studies. This interdisciplinary study offers the chance to acquire specialist knowledge of one or more Scandinavian countries, giving students an advanced understanding through a combination of compulsory courses and a selection of options.Course Content: This is a four-year joint degree, which includes a year abroad in a Scandinavian university typically in the third year. It merges the study of a particular Scandinavian language and culture, with Management Studies. The first two years involve an intensive study of language, literature, and society, before proceeding to the third year where students have the opportunity to specialize. Management Studies subjects range from International Business and Organizational Psychology, through to Corporate Finance and Marketing Management.Key Modules: Some of the key modules included are Danish Language, Swedish Language, Norwegian Language, Beginnings and Endings: Introduction to Old Norse Literature and Mythology, Society and Institutions in Modern Scandinavia, Scandinavia Beyond Vikings and The Welfare State, Introduction to Management, Principles of Marketing, Research Project, and Organisational Behaviour.Future Careers: Graduates from this program have gone on to successfully forge careers in a wide variety of sectors, including international organisations, public service, diplomacy, journalism, teaching, translation, academia, finance, management consulting, and many more.
